Restaurant Local SEO Case Study: Top-3 Google Maps Visibility

How TooTech restaurant clients in France reached strong map-pack visibility for their most valuable searches, with every figure linked to its source.

Results at a glance: six tracked restaurant keywords with average map ranks from 1.17 to 3.31 and top-3 share of local voice from 68.60% to 99.17% (geogrid scans, 5–6 Jan 2026). Business Profile views reached 44,276 in October 2025 for an Indian restaurant client (+144.4% year over year).

The Starting Point

Each restaurant competed in a dense local market where diners choose from the top three map results in seconds. Common gaps included broad or incorrect primary categories, incomplete menus and attributes (such as halal or cuisine-specific details), inconsistent business information across directories and websites that did not confirm the menu, location or ordering options clearly.

What We Did

  • Category and profile work: researched cuisine categories against map-pack competitors, completed services, menus, attributes, hours and photos.
  • Website alignment: made sure the website confirmed the same name, address, phone, cuisine and menu, with structured data where possible.
  • Relevance for real searches: focused on the dish and cuisine searches that bring covers, such as “sushi restaurant”, “halal japonais” and “french tacos”.
  • Reviews and activity: encouraged steady reviews and kept profiles active with fresh photos and updates.
  • Measurement: tracked visibility with 11×11 geogrid scans and monitored Business Profile performance.

Methodology and Limits

Geogrid scans place a virtual searcher at each of 121 points around the business and record its map rank. “Average map rank” is the mean rank across those points; “share of local voice” is the percentage of points where the business appears in the top three. These are point-in-time snapshots, not guarantees, and they do not on their own prove causation. Market, season and proximity all affect results.

Client names are withheld for privacy; each source report identifies the business. Point-in-time geogrid scans from a third-party rank tracker for the stated keyword, grid and date. They show recorded visibility, not a guarantee of future rankings. “Share of local voice” is how often the business appears in the top 3 map results across the grid.
