Google Business Profile Posts: What to Post, How Often and What Actually Works
Which Business Profile post types exist in 2026, what to post for restaurants, trades, salons and shops, how often, why posts get rejected and how to measure them.
As a Local SEO company for small businesses, we focus on what decides who gets the call. Most local customers choose from the top three map results. We improve the signals that decide who appears there, then connect that visibility to calls, directions, bookings and quote requests.
Many businesses rank near their address but disappear a mile away. A geogrid scan shows exactly where you drop out.
Wrong categories, thin service pages and inconsistent business details make Google unsure what you do and where.
Rankings mean little if calls, clicks and bookings are not tracked or the website does not convert.
Map-pack visibility measured across your service area on a grid, not from a single location.
Categories, services, attributes, photos, posts, review replies and policy-safe optimization.
Service and area pages with real local proof, written for people first, never doorway pages.
Consistent name, address and phone across key directories, data aggregators and industry sites.
A simple system to ask happy customers for reviews and reply to every review professionally.
Rankings, profile actions, calls and form leads in plain language, with next month’s priorities.
Geogrid scans, Search Console, Business Profile insights and competitor review.
Profile, categories, site structure, technical issues and tracking corrected.
Local pages, citations, reviews and useful content that earn relevance.
Monthly reports and a 90-day direction based on evidence.
Google says local results are based mainly on three things: relevance (how well your business matches the search), distance (how far you are from the searcher) and prominence (how well known and trusted your business is). You cannot move your building, but you can strengthen relevance and prominence across your whole service area.
Checking your rank from your own office is misleading, because results change every few streets. We use geogrid scans: a grid of points (for example 11×11) across your area, each recording where you appear in the map pack. Two numbers matter: average map rank and share of local voice, the percentage of grid points where you appear in the top three. You can see real examples in our restaurant case study.
AI assistants and Google’s AI features increasingly recommend local businesses. Industry research in 2026 found that Google Business Profiles, review sites and business websites are among the most cited sources for those answers. The same work that improves map rankings (a complete profile, consistent information, reviews and clear service pages) also makes your business easier for AI tools to find and recommend.
No keyword-stuffed business names, fake addresses, fake reviews or copy-paste city pages. These break Google’s guidelines and put your profile at risk of suspension. Every tactic we use is one you can safely keep for years.

Client names are withheld for privacy; each source report identifies the business. Point-in-time geogrid scans from a third-party rank tracker for the stated keyword, grid and date. They show recorded visibility, not a guarantee of future rankings. “Share of local voice” is how often the business appears in the top 3 map results across the grid.
Local SEO is the work of making a business show up when nearby people search for its services, especially in the Google Maps “local pack” and in “near me” results. It combines your Google Business Profile, your website, reviews and citations.
Some improvements, such as fixed categories or a better profile, can show within 1–2 months. Significant ranking gains usually take 3–6 months, depending on competition, your starting point and your distance from searchers.
